There have been Targhee sheep on the Green Ranch since 1962. In 1976 we bought our first Registered Targhee ewes and a Targhee stud ram.
Over the last 26 years, we have expanded our registered flock to over 100 breeding ewes. We have consistently selected for ewes raising twins, good mothering, growth and a uniform 62's fleece.

We have participated in the Montana Central Ram Test at Montana State University for the past 21 years. Our rams have topped the test with their gain index and/or fleece index several times. |
| We have done flock performance testing for 25 years. To help evaluate our flock and improve the genetics, we have been enrolled in NSIP for four years. The use of EPDs for flock improvement is an excellent tool. |

Fleeces from our flock have won wool shows in Montana as well as the National Western in Denver, Pacific International in Portland and the American Royal in Kansas City. |
| We sell yearling rams and yearling ewes (both registered and commercial) in the fall of the year at the ranch. Yearling rams are also sold at the Montana Ram Sale in Miles City, Montana in early September. |

| Our flock of Targhee sheep is the source of the wool that goes into our wonderfully soft white yarns available at Sweet Grass Wool.
